Upcoming events for June 2012


* Sundays, 6/3 through 6/24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: West End Farmers' Market at Ben Brenman Park,

* Tuesday, 6/5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m: Summer Career Fair, with more than 40 employers looking to hire. At the Activity Center (Building Entrance 4) of the First Baptist Church of Alexandria, 2932 King St.

* 6/5, 5 p.m.: Deadline for the absentee ballot applications to be received by the Voter Registration and Elections Office.

* 6/5, 7:30 p.m.: Planning & Zoning Commission public hearing on High Capacity Transit Corridors A and B recommendations. Council Chamber, second floor, City Hall, 301 King Street. [Item 13 on the docket.]

* 6/5, 8 p.m.: Choral concert, T.C. Williams High School auditorium. Free.

* Wednesday, 6/6, 7 to 9 p.m.: Design Public Hearing for the North Auxiliary Lane in Alexandria, on I-395, between Duke Street and Seminary road. At the Francis C. Hammond Middle School.

* Thursday, 6/7, 7 p.m.: Holmes Run Park Committee meeting at Beatley Central Library. Presentation on local low-cost and no-cost events this summer.

* Saturday, 6/9, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Last day for in-person absentee voting for the June 12th primary election, at 132 N. Royal St.

* Tuesday, 6/12, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Primary election in Alexandria. There are contested elections on both the Democratic side (City Council, U.S. House of Representatives) and the Republican side (U.S. Senate).

* Thursday, 6/14, 6 to 8 p.m.: Public meeting to discuss BRAC-133 Mark Center short and mid-term improvements, at the Francis Hammond Middle School.

* 6/14, 7 to 9 p.m.: Brookville-Seminary Valley Civic Association (BSVCA) Board meeting, Burke library.
