* Wednesday, 7/11, 7 to 8 p.m.: Concert at Ben Brenman Park, featuring the Jazz Foundry (traditional jazz). Free.

* Thursday, 7/12, 7 to 9 p.m.: BSVCA Board meeting, Burke library. Open to members.

* Wednesday, 7/25, 6 to 8 p.m.: Community reception at the Torpedo Factory, 105 North Union Street in Old Town, to “Remember and Recommit to End HIV/AIDS in Alexandria.” Featuring Northern Virginia’s largest display of panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Free.

* Wednesday, 7/25, 7 to 8 p.m.: Concert at Ben Brenman Park, featuring the band Hand Painted Swinger (pop rock). Free.

* Sunday, 7/29, 7 to 9 p.m.: Story League Story Contest at Busboys and Poets, Shirlington.

* Monday, 7/30, 7 to 8:30 p.m.: BSVCA General membership meeting at the Beatley Central Library.  A representative of the City's Office of Communications and Public Information, and Kerry Donley, the Vice Mayor of Alexandria, will speak and answer questions.
